Introduction
As a service to our community, I host a special electronics mentoring program for students grade 5 through college, and adults.

My Mission
To help build the next generation of electronic enthusiasts!

My Objectives
  • Educate learners that have an interest in electronics.
  • Model how to approach, understand and communicate electronics.
  • Conduct a series of educational labs that gives learners hands-on experience with electronic circuits.
  • Provide each learner with the parts and tools that are needed to explore electronics.
  • Provide each learner with knowledge, encouragement and guidance customized to each learner’s needs.
  • Provide online resources where the learners can post questions and accomplishments with the mentor.
  • Continue to motivate and support learners as they develop their interests and goals.

Is this program for you?
We are looking for people that are enthusiastic about electronics whether they want to pursue a personal interest or career in electronics. This includes electronic technician, maker, inventor, hobbyist, engineer and artist. The program is designed for learners that have no experience in electronics and want to learn, design and build. The program is also for learners with some experience but missed out on the fundamentals. The program is designed to fast-track learners so that they can get started with electronics quickly and confidently!

What will you get?
  • Electronic parts
  • Essential bench tools
  • Training
  • Direction
  • Support
  • Advice
  • Motivation
  • Setting goals
  • Achieving goals

What is the cost?
Mentoring is provided free-of-charge. Learners pay only for the lab kits. Kits cost around $25 each, with a few advanced labs costing about $50.

Learners get to keep everything in the kits! The fee provides the learner with all the tools and parts that they will need to complete each lab and continue to explore on their own.

Money should never be an obstacle to education. We encourage the participation of every interested learner out there. Lab kits are available free-of-charge to any learner with financial constraints.

What to expect
The core of our mentoring program is education. We teach a series of labs that introduce learners to the universe of electronics. These are not a “build-a-circuit-board” type of lab.

Rather, each lab operates in a team atmosphere where you will work together with a lab partner to solve problems with electronics.

The mentor provides the team with their objective, and the learners work collaboratively to design, build, and test their solution. The mentor provides the team with the necessary guidance to help the team complete their objectives. After each solution is completed, the mentor will provide details in an open discussion format to help learners fully understand their design.

Everyone has a unique way of learning and exploring. Each lab flows at the pace of the learners. The mentor’s objective is to make sure that each learner is able to think, design, build, and learn with confidence.

At the end of the lab, the learners take home everything they’ve build, plus the tools they used and plenty of bonus parts!

Mentoring continues outside of the lab. Learners are encouraged to continue exploring electronics at home. As questions, inspirations and accomplishments occur, learners can post their problems, ideas, and results online for the mentor and other learners to respond.

The labs are held at local libraries and are regularly scheduled. After submitting an application, you will be contacted for scheduling for your first lab!
